Follow Dr. Bell’s advice to stay healthy during the spring break:

Protect your skin. If you are traveling to a sunny destination, wear sunscreen of at least 30 FPS and, most importantly, be sure to reapply every two hours. This will protect against the harmful rays of the sun that predispose a person to skin cancer, including melanoma.

Eat healthy. Healthy eating is important, even on vacation. Make sure to include lots of fruits and vegetables in meals and drink lots of water. Nutritious food will keep the body nourished and well hydrated, providing lots of energy to participate in activities throughout the day. In addition, the basis of any day is a healthy breakfast.

Choose your luggage wisely. If you carry a handbag, carry one that can be attached to the body and provided with a zipper, not a snap closure or closure opened. A secure zipper can thwart “picking” attempts and reduce the chances of someone grabbing the handbag and running away with it.

Having had plenty of sleep. A good night’s rest is the foundation for renewing and refueling the body for the next day. Adults should try to get six to eight hours of sleep a night; even on vacation where sleep can sometimes seem secondary to entertainment.
