Excessive sweating and skin infections

Excessive sweating and skin infections

As if people with hyperhidrosis were not already suffering from enough frustrations – embarrassing, uncomfortable and excessive sweating.

One study found that one study found that people with the disease are also much more prone to skin infections.

Many studies have been done on the social and psychological impact of hyperhidrosis, but a team of Iowa dermatologists has chosen to focus on its repercussions medical. To do this, they reviewed the records of 800 patients, half of whom had hyperhidrosis and the other half without.

Their results reveal that people diagnosed with excessive sweating are almost three times more likely to develop a bacterial, fungal or viral infection of the skin.
Although these infections can be treated relatively easily, experts stress that visiting a dermatologist when the first signs of hyperhidrosis symptoms appear can play an important role in preventing infections.

Treatments for excessive sweating include Botox, ultrasound-assisted liposuction and prescription antiperspirants.
