Skin Care is Important
Questions about consumers’ choice of skin care products have been new this year. More than half of consumers would prefer to pay more to reduce their skin care costs each year
ASDS members lead the pack
For the sixth consecutive year, dermatologists have were ranked among the top 14 factors influencing consumers’ decision to use a cosmetic procedure. Also consider dermatologists as the doctor of choice in five of the 10 treatment categories. These included injectable anti-wrinkle relaxants; venous treatments; laser / light therapy for redness of the skin, tone and scars; soft tissue fillers; and laser hair removal. In addition, among these 14 factors, dermatologists have been the most influential in consumers’ purchases of skin care products.
Among the 11 factors that influence the selection of a practitioner, the choices corresponding to the expert’s expertise continue to receive the highest marks. The specialty in which the doctor is accredited by the council, the reference of a doctor and the level of the doctor’s license are considered to be determining factors.
The dermatologist of choice for cosmetic procedures is a dermatologist who is a member of the ASDS for three consecutive years. In two questions from the survey, ASDS members directed the 10 categories of cosmetic treatments. The majority of respondents to the first question – to which cosmetic treatments were carried out by dermatologists – replied that their dermatologist of choice was a member of the ASDS. In the second question, the majority of potential patients in all treatment categories said that they would consider an ASDS member for their procedure.
“Patients continue to trust ASDS member dermatologists to offer advanced treatment options and high-quality care,” said ASDS President Lisa Donofrio, MD . “The members of ASDS are certified dermatologists who have the training and the artistic sense to help patients feel better.”
